ESS Technologies ESS ES1688/1788 Driver. This driver is for the ESS 1788 which Windows 95 positively and mistakenly identifies as ESS 1688. I opened the Compaq case and looked at the physical chip it says ESS 1788 NOT 1688. If you have a tower, it's worth a look. If laptop, it MAY actually be a 1688.
