ESS Technologies Allegro Driver. *** DON'T RUN SETUP.EXE!!!! **********
File Contents: This file contains the extracted files from Compaq SofPaq 17311,
which is the Windows 2000 driver for the ESS Allegro on-board
sound chip in Presario 7470 and many others.
The self executing SofPaq did not seem to install the drivers even
though installation and reboot went as expected. I copied
these files while SofPaq executed, before it automatically erased them.
After that, I just went into System Devices and updated the driver,
pointing to this directory.
I suspect you really only need a1.inf & ES198X.sys, but since all
the files were in the directory when I updated my driver, I figured
better safe than sorry.
Sound works great now, hope it works for you too.
